Introduction to Datura Style with Danielly Sorato

On Saturday, November 28, 2026, Danielly Sorato invites us to discover Datura Style at an in-person workshop in Barcelona. Over an hour and a half, we will explore a shared movement vocabulary and the dynamics that allow us to improvise together.

What is Datura Style?

Datura Style is a dance style created by Rachel Brice, within fusion belly dance. Its vocabulary can be used for choreography, as an improvisation system and as a method for developing Tribal Fusion technique.

The approach connects technique, musicality and composition: learning movements and combinations gives us tools to create and dance with others. Find out more in Rachel Brice’s official introduction to The 8 Elements (opens in a new tab).

What will we learn?

  • Slow and fast combinations from the Datura Style vocabulary.
  • Some of the finger cymbal patterns used in this style.
  • The basics of group improvisation, following shared structures.
  • How to follow and pass the lead, listening to the group and enjoying moving together.

I have never improvised in a group. Can I join?

Yes! No previous group improvisation experience is needed. In Datura Style, these improvisations work like a game with clear rules and structures. We will learn them step by step, exploring how to follow other dancers and share the lead.
