Oriental dance and elements of nature

When we dance, the body connects with our being through the movement inspired by music. That is why it is important to feel what we dance and let the soul express itself through movement, unlocking us, filling us with peace and well-being, and nurturing self-love.
We are what we dance, and we express ourselves through dance. Body language is the expression of the soul, and we can represent the universe through the movement of our own body.
Oriental dance helps us reconnect with nature and our purest essence by calling on the elements through the technique of this ancient dance.
Fire
Fire consumes everything and needs to merge; only water can calm it, and it feeds on oxygen. In dance, fire appears through temperamental movements full of passion and strength, such as hip and chest accents or vibrations.
Water
Water brings calm and adapts to any material. It can become powerful, but it can also remain still. Water represents emotions and connects with the heart and chest; undulations and lunar movements evoke this element.
Earth
Oriental dance is a dance of fertility. Awareness of our connection with the earth and the universe through posture, body weight, rhythms, and folk styles linked to grounded energy represents this element.
Air
Through travelling steps, arm movements, and veils, we interpret the air that feeds fire, stirs water, and carries earth. Air gives us the oxygen we need to live.
Goals of incorporating the elements through movement:
- Awaken the passion of fire
- Stimulate the stability and grounding of earth
- Discover the imagination, creativity, and inspiration of air
- Strengthen the adaptive capacity of water
- Guide vitality toward creative expression
- Support emotional expression by integrating action and emotion
- Celebrate identity with positive, harmonious self-esteem
